What is the Bakugan game? Bakugan is the latest toy craze. It is based on a show on Cartoon Network and is about a game where players roll Bakugan toys onto metal “gate cards” that then transform into monsters that do battle. Think Transformers, Pokemon on steroids and a sprinking of Magic: The Gathering and you’ll get the idea. No surprises as to who’s going to go nuts about it.

Who is the Bakugan game aimed at? It’s aimed at 6-12 year old boys. The concept, cartoon and all the marketing is all geared towards this age group and great lengths have been gone to to ensure that the game plays very much like it looks in the cartoon.

In a nutshell, it essentially entails playing for “Gate cards” by rolling Bakugan marbles onto the cards. When two Bakugan from opposing players stand on the same “Gate card” they fight it out by comparing “G Power” which is adjusted by different values listed on the card being played for. The first to capture three “Gate Cards” wins. What it’s like is a combination of Pokemon, marbles and a trading card game.

The Bakugan game has a lot of scope for imaginative and creatvie play, certainly Bakugan strategies can be pretty elaborate. Playing the Bakugan game requires a good memory, mental math and reasonable hand-eye co-ordination. Rolling Bakugan marbles is not as easy as one might think.
